Superyacht Cup Palma 2025: A Historic Third Victory for ROSE and a Strong Showing for the Modern Classics

The 29th edition of the Superyacht Cup Palma took place from 25–28 June 2025, bringing together some of the most iconic sailing yachts in the world for three days of thrilling racing and elegant onshore events. This year’s regatta marked a new chapter in the Cup’s story, with a new venue, several high-profile yacht debuts, and ROSE claiming her place in history with a third consecutive overall win.

ROSE Makes History

In an unprecedented achievement, the Wally 80 ROSE became the first yacht in Superyacht Cup Palma history to win the event three years in a row. She sailed a near-flawless regatta in Class B, holding her own against newer and more powerful designs, and ultimately claimed the overall trophy thanks to consistent results and competitive fleet dynamics.

Class Results

The 2025 regatta was split into two competitive classes, with corrected-time racing once again delivering tight margins and tactical duels across the fleet.

Class A

  1. Gelliceaux – Southern Wind 105
  2. Cervo – Tripp 39m (Vitters)
  3. Vijonara – Truly Classic 128 (Pendennis)

Gelliceaux secured the win on the final day by just over a minute on corrected time after an intense duel with Cervo—a yacht that once again proved formidable under the Palma sun.

Class B

  1. Open Season – Baltic 68 Café Racer
  2. ROSE – Wally 80
  3. Sveam – YYachts Y8

Open Season was the boat to beat in Class B, with strong starts and clean crew work allowing her to dominate the corrected-time scores. Despite this, it was ROSE who ultimately secured the overall regatta win by outperforming in a larger fleet.

Notable Incidents and Yacht Debuts

Several new contenders made their Superyacht Cup Palma debut this year, including:

  • Linnea Aurora, a Truly Classic 128 built by SES Yachts
  • Sveam, a new Y8 from YYachts
  • An expanded fleet of Baltic Café Racers, which provided some of the closest racing of the week

One notable moment came on Day 2 when Linnea Aurora was forced to delay her start due to the presence of a large commercial vessel in the channel. Despite the setback, she came back to claim a race win in Class A—a testament to her pedigree and the skill of her crew.

New Venue, Classic Conditions

This year marked the first time the event was hosted from the newly redeveloped Club de Mar-Mallorca, offering enhanced facilities and direct access to the racecourse. The Bay of Palma delivered its signature conditions—light thermals early in the regatta building to stronger afternoon breezes of 12–18 knots by the final day.

Stars on Shore

As always, the social calendar was as lively as the racing. The St. Regis Midsummer BBQ at the Mardavall was a highlight, drawing a glamorous crowd of owners, designers, and industry veterans. Notable sightings included several Formula 1 personalities, returning guests from previous years, and new faces from the world of fashion and tech.

Daily Happy Hours, hosted by North Sails, Pantaenius Yacht Insurance, and other key sponsors, kept the dockside energy high and the glasses full.

Final Thoughts

Speaking after the prizegiving, ROSE’s Captain Ben Potter summed it up:

“To win once at Palma is special. To win three in a row—well, we’re blown away. The team worked tirelessly, and the racing was phenomenal as always. This event just keeps getting better.”

Event Director Kate Branagh added:

“We’re incredibly proud of the fleet this year. The standard of racing, the sportsmanship, and the enthusiasm of our new venue partners have taken the Superyacht Cup Palma to another level.”

Superyach Partner's Will Bishop, who was on the water all week, confirmed that "With another successful edition in the global centre of sailing superyachts, The Superyacht Cup has cemented itself as the premier Superyacht Regatta in the Med."

Looking Ahead

With ROSE now firmly cemented in the event’s history books, all eyes turn to next year. The 30th edition of the Superyacht Cup Palma will take place from 24–27 June 2026, promising even more world-class racing and unforgettable moments.
