Monaco Yacht Show 2022: A Return to Grandeur

MYS 2022 was a spectacular return to form after the pandemic years, restoring its status as the premier yachting event in the world. Port Hercules was brimming with excitement as over 100 superyachts lined the docks, joined by 450 leading exhibitors representing the best in the global yachtingindustry. After years of scaled-down events, the full return of grandeur waspalpable, from the glistening yachts to the star-studded social scene.

The show’s centerpiece was the 95-meter Kismet, a Lürssen masterpiece that captured attention with its luxurious design andamenities, from its expansive deck spaces to its intricately designed interiors. Equally impressive was Viva, a 94-meter hybrid yacht from Feadship, lauded for its innovative sustainability features. Viva demonstrated how the industry is evolving, balancing high-end luxury witheco-conscious design—a trend that was seen throughout the show

Focus on Innovation

One of the highlights of the 2022 show was the debut of the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub. This new section quickly became a favorite among attendees, offering a glimpse into the future of yacht design. Top designers and shipbuilders displayed concepts and models that emphasized the importance of sustainability and advanced technology in yachting. Innovative materials, cutting-edge propulsion systems, and designs that blended luxury with eco-friendly features were prominent throughout the hub.

Another major draw was the Adventure Area, which catered to the growing trend of experience-driven yachting. Here, exhibitors showcased a dazzling array of water toys, luxury tenders, and high-tech gadgets. From submarines and jetpacks to the latest in water sports equipment, the Adventure Area reflected the evolving desires of today’s yacht owners, who seek not only comfort and luxury but also adventure on the open seas

As always, the social side of the Monaco Yacht Show was just as important as the yachts themselves. A series of glamorous networking events and private parties provided the perfect backdrop for brokers, yacht owners,and industry leaders to connect. The IGY Monte Carlo Party, a black-tie affair held at the Monaco Yacht Club, was the centerpiece of the social calendar. This event was the place to see and be seen, with champagne flowing, liveperformances, and a crowd dressed to impress. Other notable events included cocktail receptions hosted by top yacht brokers and designers, providingopportunities for attendees to mingle and discuss potential collaborations
