Mediterranean Yacht Show 2023: A Showcase of Excellence

A Grand Return to Nafplion

The Mediterranean Yacht Show 2023 (MEDYS) was held from April 29 to May 3, 2023, in Nafplion, Greece, marking the event’s eighth edition. The show brought together 92 luxury charter yachts, making it one of the largest displays of crewed yachts in the world. As a premier event for charter brokers and industry professionals, it offered a glimpse into the upcoming charter season and showcased the region's growing prominence as a yachting destination

Key Yachts on Display

Among the impressive lineup, several standout yachts attracted attention. The 50-meter Ouranos from Admiral Yachts was a crowd favorite, showcasing her sleek, modern design and luxurious onboard amenities. Africa I, a 47-meter Benetti yacht that hosted high-profile celebrities like Cristiano Ronaldo, also garnered significant interest with her elegant interiors and extensive sundeck. Additionally, Geco, a 55-meter Admiral yacht, returned for her second appearance, drawing crowds with her award-winning exterior and impressive beach club

Culinary and Steward Competitions

As part of the event’s highlights, the Chef’s Competition returned with the theme of “Zero Waste From the Greek Seas,” challenging yacht chefs to create sustainable, seafood-focused dishes. Chef Manolis Perros of Zen, a 27-meter Sanlorenzo yacht, took first place, while Tatiana Konstantinidi of Hakuna Matata won the Platinum Award for her outstanding culinary creations. Complementing this was the Chief Stewardess competition, where participants created stunning tablescapes, with Sole di Mare’s Nikol Petrou winning the award.

Networking and Social Events

Beyond the yacht displays, the Mediterranean Yacht Show 2023 provided numerous networking opportunities for brokers and industry professionals. Daily yacht tours allowed brokers to explore the interiors and meet the crews, while the evening social events, including themed yacht parties, facilitated informal business discussions. These events further strengthened relationships between brokers, yacht managers, and service providers, making MEDYS not only a platform for showcasing yachts but also for fostering industry connections.

Conclusion: A Successful Show

The 2023 edition of the Mediterranean Yacht Show was a resounding success, with exceptional yachts, exciting competitions, and robust networking opportunities. The show reinforced Greece’s position as a leading charter destination, and the feedback from participants highlighted the high standards of both the yachts and crews. As the Mediterranean yachting season unfolds, many attendees are already looking forward to the 2024 edition.
